  • 1982 - The Mexican three masted barque was built at the Astilleros Celaya S.A. shipyards, Bilbao, Spain, to train officers and cadets of the Mexican Navy.
  • The "Cuauhtémoc" has received various awards and recognition at the international level, including the prestigious Cutty Sark trophy in 1998 and 2000. Two years later she won 2nd place in the 2000 Baltic regatta. In 2002 and 2003, the ship and its crew were awarded the "Boston Teapot".
